Dr. Fernandez publishes research in the discipline of Business Law, including Administrative Law, Environmental Law, Constitutional Law, Contracts, Intellectual Property, Real Estate, and Torts. He has published in Top Tier journals such as The Florida Law Review, The Florida Bar Journal, and The University of Florida Journal of Law and Public Policy.
Prior to his academic career, Dr. Fernandez was a practicing attorney focusing on Administrative and Environmental Law. In addition to his years in private law practice, Dr. Fernandez served as Director of the United States Department of the Interior Eastern Water Law Center, Staff Director and General Counsel to the Florida Senate Natural Resources Committee, and General Counsel to the Southwest Florida Water Management District.

Curriculum Vitae (CV)Arthur Rubens (Ph.D.)Dr. Arthur Rubens is Professor Emeritus of Management and founding faculty of Lutgert College of Business at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). At FGCU, Dr. Rubens taught in the B.S. MBA, and Executive MBA programs, and was actively involved in executive professional education and international educational programs. Dr. Rubens also has held multiple visiting professor positions, as well as short-term teaching assignments at varied universities around the world; e.g., France, Italy, China, Denmark, New Zealand, Slovak Republic, and Germany. Dr. Rubens is currently Visiting Professor in the Department of Organizational Studies and Ethics at Audencia Business School in Nantes, France. He also is a former Fulbright Scholar (teaching/research) at City University, School of Management (Vysoká škola manažmentu), Bratislava, Slovak Republic (2017-2018). In addition, to Dr. Rubens teaching and research appointments, he held several administrative positions at FGCU: Associate Director of the Regional Economic Research Institute, Director of Sponsored Projects and Programs in the College, Center for Leadership and Innovation (CLI), and was founding chair of the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program.
Dr. Rubens primary teaching areas are in business strategy, international management, leadership, and quality management. Prior to joining the College of Business, Dr. Rubens taught a variety of courses in health services administration, health policy, and research methods. Dr. Rubens has received numerous awards and recognitions for teaching excellence at both FGCU and Northern Illinois University.
Across his career, Dr. Rubens has been an active contributor to the management literature. His primary research interests are in leadership; ethics; international management; sustainability/sustainable development; economic development, entrepreneurship, and quality management. He currently has 78 published peer review publications (51 manuscripts and 27 published proceedings) and has co-authored two books: Public Goods, Sustainable Development, and the Contribution of Business (Cambridge Scholars Publishing) and Sustainable Development in the Developing World (Business Systems Book Series). Dr. Rubens has also authored or co-authored 6 book chapters, 6 non-peer review published publications, and has presented his published works at over 75 professional meetings. In addition, he has been an invited contributor and keynote speaker at numerous meetings and events.
Professionally, Dr. Rubens has almost 30 years’ experience in the management field as an educator, consultant, researcher, and administrator. Prior to his appointment at FGCU, he was a faculty member in the College of Health teaching health administration at Northern Illinois University. Dr. Rubens’s doctorate is from the University of Pittsburgh, and he has MPA (Public Administration) and MSH (Health Services and Counseling) degrees. Over his tenure in academia, he has been actively involved in working with program accreditation and served as a key member of AACSB teams.
Dr. Rubens was born in Canada and holds both U.S. and Canadian Passports. He has lived and worked in Europe and has traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Central and South America.

Dr. Van Auken has over 50 refereed journal publications. During his career he has been ranked as the 18th leading publisher in the field of advertising. Recently, his work in the Journal of Marketing Analytics was recognized by Palgrave-Macmillan for receiving over 2300 downloads during 2015.
Dr. Van Auken has served as a business school dean and has 14 years of experience as a department chair. He has been a marketing consultant to large corporations and has had many adventures as an expert witness in his area of marketing.
