Job Description: The primary purpose of this position is to lead students in meaningful service-learning opportunities with the goal of empowering students to engage in service regularly on their own. Trip Leaders will also support office-wide programs and events on a regular basis. This position reports to the Service-Learning & Civic Engagement Coordinator.
Job Duties:
- Lead service-learning trips with fellow FGCU students out in the community on a weekly basis (must have your own transportation).
- Walk participants through the Eagle Service Network submission process.
- Facilitate a guided reflection at each service-learning trip.
- Communicate effectively and clearly with community partner organizations and student participants.
- Attend all department events to help with setup, logistics, and cleanup (unless in class or have approved scheduled time off for prior commitment).
- Represent the Office of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement as a student leader and foster relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Must have a vehicle.
- Enrolled as a degree-seeking student at Florida Gulf Coast University at the time of hire and throughout the appointment.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be in good conduct standing with the University.
- Must have at least two five-hour time blocks available per week to lead trips.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond to supervision, guidance, and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies.
- Demonstrate professionalism in dealing with a diverse population while understanding and respecting each other’s views of the world, personalities, and working styles.
Pay: $13.00 per hour, plus the option to be reimbursed for mileage your drive to sites around the region
Hours per week: 9 (two trips per week); exact schedule can be designed around your class schedule but must match trips planned by the Guided Trip Coordinator
Location: Various community partner locations in the community and occasional on-campus events/office hours.

Guided Service Trip Coordinator

Job Description: The primary purpose of this position is to create, coordinate, and assess weekly small group service-learning trips to a variety of sites across SWFL. This position will also assist in the supervision of a team of Guided Trip Leaders who actually facilitate the trips that someone in this position has planned. This position reports to the Service-Learning Coordinator.
Job Duties:
- Reach out to community partners to set up and schedule ongoing guided trips for our student Guided Trip Leaders
- Ensure the backend process is implemented in Eagle Service Network during and after each trip for all guided trips
- Provide regular check-ins and meetings for the Guided Trip Leader Team
- Track all guided trip data and create end-of-semester reports using provided template
- Represent the Office of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement as a student leader and foster relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Inspire students to view the graduation requirement as a way to enhance career readiness skills.
- Show students how to document hours in Eagle Service Network and promote starting service early-on in their FGCU career.
- Cover the front desk as needed (answer phone, check voicemails, assist walk-ins, other tasks as assigned).
- Attend all department events to help with setup, logistics, and cleanup (unless in class or have approved scheduled time off for prior commitment).
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Enrolled as a degree-seeking student at Florida Gulf Coast University at the time of hire and throughout the appointment.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be in good conduct standing with the University.

Office Assistant

Job Description: Someone in this position will help welcome and assist students, faculty, staff, and community partners via phone, email, or walk-in visits. This person will learn all the ins-and-outs of service-learning at FGCU and serve as the first attempt at helping to solve issues anyone is facing. This person must also build great relationships with all staff members in the office to appropriately people and to assist as needed with a variety of daily tasks. This position reports to the Service-Learning Coordinator but will assist all staff members. Training will be provided.
Job Duties:
- Assist with emails, voicemails, phone calls, and walk-in visits
- Show students how to document hours in Eagle Service Network
- Assist with promoting events and initiatives
- Assist with processing Eagle Service Network forms as needed
- Assist with event preparation
- Assist with community partner database management
- Represent the Office of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement as a student leader as needed
- Inspire students to view the graduation requirement as a way to enhance career readiness skills.
- Attend all department events to help with setup, logistics, and cleanup (unless in class or have approved scheduled time off for prior commitment).
- Other tasks as needed to assist with daily office operations
