Shady Rest Foundation Donates $200,000 to Marieb College

On August 6, 2020, board members from the Shady Rest Foundation presented the Marieb College with a check for $200,000.00 to be used for undergraduate and graduate scholarships in 2020-2021. The Shady Rest Foundation Scholarships are designated as five scholarships in the amount $6500.00 for 5 students each in Exercise Science, Public Health, Nursing and Social Work students with an additional scholarship of $3000.00 for Nursing.
Twenty additional Shady Rest Foundation Scholarships will be awarded to graduate and doctoral students in the disciplines of Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Nursing, and Social Work in accordance with the Foundation restrictions. The Shady Rest Foundation support released its first grant award to FGCU and the Marieb College to support health professions workforce graduates who have an interest and desire to work in the field of aging services in some capacity.
The Shady Rest Foundation Board members presenting the scholarships to Marieb Dean Ann Cary included Mr. Bob Murray, Foundation President and Dr. Jo Stecher Foundation Vice President. In attendance were also Dr. Shawn Felton and Tom Felke as well as Dolly Farrell from the FGCU Foundation. Shady Rest Foundation Board wishes to touch the lives of future healthcare professionals who will serve the older adult population
