You’re invited to help celebrate spring 2025 graduates

April 01, 2025

FGCU is celebrating spring commencement May 3- 4, at Alico Arena, and planning is underway to make the ceremonies a great experience for graduates and their families.

Part of commencement’s success is the support from FGCU employees. “In one commencement weekend, we host about 2,300 grads and 12,000 of their loved ones,” said April Cordonnier, commencement coordinator. It takes many people to pull off a seamless and unforgettable celebration. Your time and dedication will help leave a legacy that graduates will carry with them forever.”

Standing inside Alico Arena in front of a white wall with an FGCU athletics poster to the right, associate deans, directors and faculty members wear their regalia and celebrate graduates during the fall 2024 commencement. Employees interested in participating in commencement can sign up to provide staff support. Employees will benefit from an alternate work schedule and take on important roles, such as scanning tickets, lining up students and distributing programs. To sign up, click here.

Faculty members have the opportunity to participate in the ceremonies where they can wear their regalia, sit with graduates and be part of the commencement march. “Being at commencement allows an opportunity to publicly acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of our students. Attending commencement signifies faculty’s role in the students' academic journey including support and congratulations at the end of the educational process,” said Dr. Tony Barringer, interim provost.

Faculty can sign up here by April 23 to participate. Faculty members who do not own their own regalia may rent it through the FGCU Bookstore and will be fitted with FGCU regalia colors, as supplies last. Faculty will receive the 25% employee discount.
