In the History Program, learning continues outside the classroom. Our majors have several opportunities to engage with the past through a variety of clubs, internships, events, and partnerships with university and regional organizations.

The History Club: brings together all students in the FGCU community interested in the past and its role shaping the present, sponsors a series of events throughout the academic year, including the campus-wide History Day in the Spring.
Phi Alpha Theta: PAT is the history discipline’s honors society. Phi Alpha Theta hosts events and conferences, and members are eligible to apply for scholarships and awards.
Center for Judaic, Holocaust, & Genocide Studies: The Center’s main focus is to increase knowledge and understanding about the Holocaust and other genocides, as well as rescuing the history of the vibrant Jewish communities that were lost. The center hosts a series of lectures and events throughout the year.

The Florida Undergraduate Research Conference - (FURC) is an annual event open to all undergraduate researchers in the state of Florida to present their research in a poster forum. Every year the conference will be hosted at a different university in the state. In addition to research presentations, there are also exhibitors from graduate programs and other professionalization opportunities to expand your resume.
Florida Conference of Historians - Held annually, both graduate and undergraduate students have the opportunity to present their research to and receive feedback from scholars in the field. Papers made be submitted to the peer reviewed FCH Annals: Journal of the Florida Conference of Historians.
