Opportunities for Involvement With FGCU Projects

The University's policy is that vendors are not to market commodities and services directly to university departments or to departmental personnel. Please contact Procurement Services to make an appointment to discuss the commodities or services that you sell. You are encouraged to provide packets of information or informational brochures on the commodities or services that you provide. The agent can then disseminate that information to user department personnel. Further information may be found through the Purchasing Department.

Architectural, Engineering, and Construction Management Firms should check the Facilities Planning Web Site for Announcements and Requests for Proposals. Notices and Requests will appear on the home page under "Announcements" when professional services are needed. Advertisements for services will also appear in the Florida Administrative Weekly.

Trade contractors wishing for their services to be considered for an FGCU building project must contact the respective Construction Manager that has been selected for that project. Construction Management firms will be identified on our web site for upcoming projects. The Construction Manager will direct you on how to be placed on their solicitation list for such projects and what would be required of your firm in order to be considered.

Vendors wishing for their commodities to be considered for an FGCU building project must contact the respective architectural firm that has been selected for that project. Architectural firms will be identified on our web site for upcoming projects. Accordingly, the architect will make the decision regarding the inclusion or non-inclusion of certain commodities in a typical project specification. Facilities Planning may make suggestions to an architect for the inclusion of a particular commodity, however, since the chosen architect will be accountable for such inclusions, the final responsibility for product selection will lie with the architect.

Design and Construction Guidelines

The following Design and Construction Guidelines are neither completely inclusive nor totally exclusive. Contract Agreements and General Conditions of the Contract will always take precedence. If a situation develops which is contradictory to these guidelines or, if the design professional can demonstrate a more advantageous solution, the University will welcome requests for guideline modifications, upon approval by the Director of Facilities Planning.
