Student Spotlight of the Week
May 26, 2020 / Tags: Occupational therapy, StudentSpotlight, Physical Therapy
Each week the Department highlights a student or students who display excellence and portray the Department's mission statement. This week, we are highlighting two, first year students in the Department.
First year Occupational Therapy student, Angie Marie (pictured below) went to FGCU for her undergraduate degree, and fell in love with the campus so much, she is now attending her graduate program here as well. Angie loves to go on walks, roller blade, and spend time outdoors, especially during the quarantine times. She also enjoys traveling, with one of her favorite places to visit being Chicago, where she is originally from. Angie has a brother with special needs, who is the driving force behind her pursuit of Occupational Therapy, and wants to help kids like him in the future.
Our second student spotlight this week goes to first year DPT student, Deborah Humble. Deborah is pursuing a career in physical therapy after working in a variety of industries, most recently as a recruiter and prospective student advisor at the Graduate Studies Office here at FGCU. Deborah is currently training for the Dopey Challenge Disney Marathon which consists of 4 races over 4 days. She is currently the FPTA Student SIG Director of Communications and hopefully soon-to-be student liaison/advocate for APTA Academy of Aquatic Physical Therapy. As a DPT student, Deborah really enjoys the hands on aspect of the program and can't wait to continue her education when we are all back on campus!
