When does the academic year start? What is the last day I can drop a class?
All new students must submit their own Eagle ID photo via the eAccounts portal and
FGCU Single Sign-On.
Steps and Instructions to help walk through the eAccounts portal can be found on the
Update Your ID Profile page.
There is also an app for Transact eAccounts for which students can upload an ID photo,
as well as stay connected to financial aid, meal plans, Eagle Dollars, etc. when on
campus.
Incoming students must submit an approved headshot that meets the ID guidelines, which
can be seen on FGCU.edu/EagleID website. They must secondarily submit a government-issued ID for verification purposes.
A student may be asked to resubmit a proper photo.
The photo submission process is guided and can be completed on mobile or desktop browser
or the app. Students may take a photo “selfie” in the photo submission upload, or
upload a previously taken image.
Distance Learning and completely online/remote students will be mailed their Eagle
ID to the legal address listed on file at the registrar.
Once the student has received the email that “You photo has been approved” Distance
Learning students should email smile@fgcu.edu to notify them that the ID needs to be mailed.
If the Distance Learning student has been enrolled but has never previously picked
up an Eagle ID, please send an email to smile@fgcu.edu with the notification.
What are the registration dates for priority/non-priority students? Will I still have
a chance of getting into the classes I want if I’m a non-priority student? (Or, what
does it mean to be a non-priority student?)
Priority levels are determined by a student's most recently posted, total earned
hours. For example, if you intend to register for summer or fall 2008 classes, the
earned hours used to determine your classification and registration date will be the
fall 2007 term or prior if you did not attend FGCU during fall 2007. The following
chart will assist you in determining your registration schedule as you progress through
your educational career at FGCU.
Registration Opens for:

Newly admitted, transfer students who have transfer credit listed on their FGCU transcript
will be placed in the appropriate priority level based on earned hours accepted by
FGCU. Check earned hours by viewing academic transcripts viaGulfline. You need to check the 'Overall Earned Hours' found under 'Transcript Totals'. Additional
information can be found on theDepartment of Records & Registration webpage
I’m a new distance-learning student. How do I use Canvas learning system?
Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) at FCGU. Canvas is a next-generation
LMS for colleges and universities that encourages communication, collaboration and
creativity while retaining the essential features of an LMS including quizzes, tests,
threaded discussions, assignment upload and more.
You will receive an acceptance letter in the mailing address provided on your application.
Your advisor will be identified in your acceptance letter. Please read your acceptance
letter carefully. You must contact your advisor before registering for classes.
For the CLS program, acceptance letters for getting into clinicals will be mailed in
June. Your advisor will register students for all of their courses during the last
year.
What can I use a degree in Health Sciences or Clinical Laboratory Sciences for? What
careers have some of your alumni gone on to after graduation?
ForClinical Laboratory Science, use the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Outlook Handbook. Recent salaries for workers employed in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences field have
started at approximately $20-25.00 per hour, or $46,000-52,000 a year.
Where can I go for academic tutoring? Where can I go for help with my writing?
Students should seek tutoring and academic support early in the semester. While tutoring
never replaces course work or class lecture, it does enhance material presented in
the classroom. The underlying objective of tutoring is to assist students in becoming
independent and confident learners. The CAA Tutor Leaders develop and expand the skills
and resources necessary to fortify student self-confidence and success in the academic
environment. For more information, please call (239) 590-7906 or use theCenter for Academic Achievementwebsite.
TheFGCU Writing Centerassists student writers through free, accessible, learning-based writing consultations.
Our primary goals are to help students improve their abilities to think independently,
to write critically, and to learn and implement strategies that will assist them in
producing effective writing assignments (https://www.fgcu.edu/WritingCenter/).
Health Sciences is primarily a distance-learning program, but are there any traditional
on-campus courses for this degree?
Prerequisites for graduate level health professions-related programs (Nursing, Physical
Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant studies, and Chiropractic school)
can be used as Health Science electives or included in the general education component
of the degree in most cases.
If I wanted to go on to Nursing, Occupational Therapy, etc., which degree should I
pursue? If I didn’t get into Nursing/etc., can Health Sciences help me to eventually
become a _________?
There are several options. Health Science is one of those options. Whichever program
you complete, you must maintain a high GPA and complete the prerequisites for your
desired program.
What are the common registrations holds that may make it difficult for me to register
for classes? How do I get them lifted?
If you have trouble registering through Gulfline as a result of a hold or course restriction
contact theOffice of the Registrar.
For Holds:
For student account most common holds (code/type, description, office responsible
for hold and contact information, and hold resolution recommendation) visit the Advising webpage.
If I am a distance-learning student, am I still required to do service-learning?
All students (even distance learning students) are required to complete service learning
hours as part of the graduation requirements from FGCU. Right now the rule is 80 hours
of service learning for students entering FGCU as freshmen and sophomores and 40 hours
of service learning for students entering as juniors and seniors with 60 or more transferable
credit hours. Everything you need to know about service-learning can be found on theEagles Connect website.
Your record won't say "completed" until the graduation list is delivered to us from
the Office of the Registrar in the semester in which you are graduating.
If I get into the ________ program, what things can I do on-campus for further involvement?
This course is required for all undergraduates. It is a writing intensive course
and students are required to complete ten hours of service-learning related to the
natural environment as part of the course. A three credit hour course, University
Colloquium, brings together students and faculty from all disciplines in an interdisciplinary
learning experience.
Distance learning students may complete Colloquium as an online course. Spaces in
the online sections of the Colloquium are reserved for students who:
1) Live outside of the university's five-county service region (Lee, Charlotte, Collier,
Hendry, and Glades counties), or
2) Are enrolled in a degree program that is offered entirely online
Students who meet one or both of these criteria should contact theirAcademic Advisorfor registration in an online section of Colloquium.
The Office of the Registraris available to assist veterans eligible for any of the educational benefit programs
administered by the Veterans Administration. Students who believe that they are eligible
for benefits may receive assistance in applying for them through this office.
Priority levels are determined by a student's most recently posted, total earned hours.
The earned hours used to determine your classification and registration date. Students
receiving Veterans' Educational Benefits are coded as Priority 1. Additional information
can be found using theOffice of the Registrar Eagles Registration.
