TAA Workshop with Avi Staiman: FGCU Virtual Workshop - Harnessing the Power of AI: An Exploration of AI Tools for the Next Generation of Research

The Lucas Center is collaborating with other units on campus to promote AI literacy
for faculty, staff, and students. In addition to the TAA workshop described below,
keep an eye out for announcements about a Lucas Center conversation about AI literacy
on Wednesday, April 2 at 2:00 pm and a workshop facilitated by faculty associated
with the Dendritic Institute (a human-centered AI and Data Science Institute at FGCU) on Friday, April 18. In
addition, you can find a variety of free resources related to AI through the university’s
subscription to LinkedIn Learning. If you are using AI in creative ways for teaching
and learning and would like to share your work with your colleagues, please contact
the Lucas Center about facilitating a workshop, discussion, or demonstration.

on Tuesday, April 1 from 1-3 p.m. EST.
This workshop is being offered at no cost to you and includes an annual membership
in the Textbook & Academic Authors Association (TAA), a 501c3 nonprofit that provides the support, knowledge, and opportunities authors
need to succeed in their writing pursuits. If you are already a TAA member, your membership
will be renewed. TAA is a co-sponsor of the workshop.

About This Workshop
In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn to understand and master the transformative
power of artificial intelligence (AI) in research. Delve into the top AI tools available
to researchers (including Scite, Elicit, SciScholar and more) and learn practical
use cases demonstrating how these tools enhance efficiency, accuracy, and novelty
in research. It will cover topics like AI-assisted data analysis, simplified literature
review, predictive modeling, and more. Gain a comprehensive understanding of the AI

About the Presenter
Avi Staiman is the founder and CEO of Academic Language Experts, a company dedicated to assisting academic scholars to prepare their research for publication and bring it to the world. He also is the co-host of the New Books Network 'Scholarly Communication' Podcast." Avi has been a guest lecturer at NYU's Master's Program in Translation & Interpreting, The University of Tokyo, and Bar Ilan University and he is a reviewer for Wiley's Learned Publishing journal. His essays have appeared in the Cambridge University Press Blog, Scholarly Kitchen, Multilingual, and Times Higher Education.
