SoTL Commons Conference
Each February the Faculty Center at Georgia Southern University sponsors the SOTL Commons Conference on the scholarship of teaching and learning. Many FGCU faculty have presented at this conference, and others have attended to learn more about conducting their own SoTL research. The call for proposals for the 2025 conference opened on August 1 with a submission deadline of November 1. The conference offers presentation formats for sharing completed research and for in-progress projects, so if you are in the “thinking about” or planning stages of a SoTL project but haven’t yet conducted a study, there are still presentation opportunities. The conference call for proposals website has information about the proposal types and proposal tracks, and if you would like information about the type of work that has been presented in the past, you can find conference agendas here.
Lucas Center staff are available to consult with you about presentation ideas, and we encourage faculty to apply for a Teaching Enhancement Award (upcoming deadline, August 31) if you know you would like to attend the conference. We will also accept another round of Teaching Enhancement Award proposals between January 2nd and January 31st, so if you would like to wait to apply for an award at a time when you know whether or not your conference proposal has been accepted, you will have that opportunity in January.
