Peer Observation of Teaching - December 2024
Peer Observation of Teaching Workshop
December 16th, 17th and 19th from 9:00a-3:00p in the Lucas Center (LIB-221)
Peer observation of teaching is a supportive and developmental process to encourage dialogue about teaching among collaborative peers. Research suggests that the peer observation process can benefit the teaching of both observer and observed (Hendry & Oliver, 2012). Therefore, by participating in this workshop you will 1) increase your capacity to provide a valuable service to your peers and the university, and 2) engage in professional development to enhance your own teaching.
-
- Complete a set of readings on formative and summative approaches to peer observation in preparation for the workshop.
- Participate in all three days of the workshop and complete a written peer observation report to be submitted by end of day on Wednesday, December 18th.
- Allow their names and a brief bio to be listed on the Lucas Center website as trained peer observers.
- Conduct up to two observations per academic year during AY 2025-26 and AY 2026-27.
The Peer Observation of Teaching Workshop will be limited to a maximum of 15 participants. Applicants should prepare a very brief statement (1 page max) in which they respond to the following questions and prompts. We request that participants upload their responses (as a Word Doc or PDF) to the OneDrive folder linked here, no later than Sunday, November 24th.
