Academic Research

In collaboration with Sponsored Research & Scholarly Innovation, First Year Experience & Retention Programs will provide students with a forum through which they will learn about scholarly research, and explore research opportunities that are occurring on campus, while also getting connected to faculty and students who lead these projects.

Biology
Toggle More InfoEagles Excel in Biology is a program available to all incoming freshmen science majors that will be required to complete General Biology I and/or General Biology II to complete their program. These introductory courses are considered extremely challenging and can lead to a difficult start in college. The program has proven to increase student performance throughout their time at FGCU and increases the likelihood of graduating in four years. It is a great way to meet other science majors that will likely be in some of your classes with you.

Being a first-generation (first-gen) student means that your parent(s) did not complete a four-year college degree in the United States. If you are a first-gen, this is the perfect way to kick off your FGCU experience! You will be connected with important campus resources and involvement opportunities, and meet other new students, faculty, and staff. This combination program will be fun, informative, and supportive of your transition to college.
Dates & Location:
The program kicks off at 4:30pm with a Welcome Dinner. Up to two parents or family members are welcome to accompany you the Welcome Ceremony at the Boardwalk Restaurant in North Lake Village

Eagles Excel in Biology allowed me to succeed in Gen Bio I and Gen Bio II. We reviewed foundational biological concepts and General Biology course material, and this allowed me to feel confident before starting my freshman year at FGCU.
