Turnitin Removes Grammar Checking

Turnitin has been notified by Educational Testing Services (ETS) that they are no longer supporting their e-rater grammar service in 2025. As a result, Turnitin has removed e-rater from all of its products as of December 31, 2024.

In the absences of grammar checking provided via e-rater, Turnitin recommends students use Turnitin Draft Coach for grammar checks while drafting in Microsoft Word online. Turnitin does not currently offer an alternative for instructors.

Turnitin Draft Coach offers students the opportunity to "develop citation, research and writing skills by providing feedback" for works written in Microsoft Word online. Students can write a research paper, upload it through Draft Coach, and get instant feedback on issues identified by the software.
