Generalist Level Internship

FGCU Counseling and Psychological Services provides training and supervision for interns from the social work, mental health counseling, and psychology programs. The training program is 16 hours per week which consists of 2 full days for students. Interns are provided with weekly individual and/or group supervision. Interns are required to commit and complete two consecutive semesters for the academic year consisting of the fall and spring terms. There are limited weekend and evening hours possible.

Training Requirements:

Interns are introduced to this internship program during a week-long orientation period which typically begins the week before the FGCU fall academic semester starts. The orientation includes opportunities for interns to become acquainted with CAPS staff, our policies and procedures, outreach and case management systems, and students will learn about the campus offices and other referral resources.

Case Management:

This position provides opportunities for students to further develop and refine their case management skills. Case management opportunities may include the development and research of clinical resources, meeting with and contacting clients for case management, and administrative case management functions such as collaboration with internal and external partners.

*An intern may not be eligible for an internship at CAPS if they are not able to fulfill and be cleared by the FGCU HR on-boarding process, or if they have been a current client of FGCU CAPS within the last 6-months at the time of applying for the internship.
