Welcome to the FGCU Campus
Welcome to Florida Gulf Coast University where we soak up the rays in sunny Southwest Florida.
As you check out this tour, we are certain you will see how energizing and innovative our campus really is - the students, the faculty, the location, the ideas, the education - it's what FGCU is about!"
Continue to Academic Experience
Academic Experience
This is the Academic Core where most of our classes are held. The buildings here house our Academic Colleges and allow the faculty to be easily accessible to students. Our average class size is just 33 students - no large lecture halls here - so you won't get lost in the crowd.
Many classes incorporate experiential learning and submersion into the topic at hand. With approximately 16,000 students from almost every state and over 60 different countries, more than 60 undergraduate majors, and outstanding graduate and doctoral degrees to choose from, you're sure to find the perfect academic program for you!
Your classes, combined with our outstanding connections for internships, research, and study abroad, will position you for success after graduation.
Student Life
With 16,000 students, FGCU is a lively, diverse and welcoming community. There's a lot to do here, and getting involved is key to a successful and memorable college experience. Play Quidditch or paintball. Practice yoga. Get involved in Greek Life or join an intramural sports team.
There are hundreds of opportunities to enhance your Eagle experience. The FGCU Programming Board is responsible for large-scale events like concerts, lectures, comedians, late night events, and more.
Service-learning is much more than a requirement – it's an opportunity for our students to take their knowledge and talents into the community and make meaningful connections.
College of Business
Students in the Lutgert College of Business will not only learn inside the classroom but, like many majors, will also experience internships where they can apply the classroom theory to real-world situations. Local businesses and Fortune 500 companies want to hire our students after graduation because of the preparation we have throughout our academic career.
Our unique Bloomberg investment center, marketing and advertising laboratory, and PGA lab are examples of on-campus facilities designed to provide students with hands-on experience in business and prepare them for success after graduation.
College of Health and Human Services
Marieb Hall is home to our Marieb College of Health and Human Services majors. State-of-the-art laboratories and speciality classrooms give students true opportunities to work with the most innovative and expansive equipment for all health-related majors.
Our simulated hospital rooms, active therapy rooms - including an anti-gravity treadmill, and rehabilitation laboratories allow for experiential learning in a hands-on environment.
100% of graduates from this college are employed within 6-months. How impressive is that?
College of Engineering
The UA Whitaker College of Engineering students engage in active learning in Holmes Hall with state-of-the art labs and studio classrooms. Engineering and computing students engage in hands-on, active learning, via a 2-story crane lab, Virtual Reality Lab, outdoor construction lab, and robotics studio.
Our engineering students have been involved in a host of research - at the undergraduate level - to include designing and building a prosthetic device for a local child.
Music & Arts
The Bower School of Music and the Arts is part of the College of Arts and Sciences but you don't have to be a music or theatre major to get involved! Our performance groups include students from a variety of majors. Our Pep Band performs at sporting events and helps amp up the school spirit for our D1 teams!
The Music Building has a beautiful recital hall as well as specialty classrooms, rehearsal rooms and an ensemble music library. The Arts Complex also includes an Art Gallery and TheatreLab - a black box performance space. The art gallery frequently exhibits works ranging from student projects to nationally and internationally recognized artists.
Beach & Boardwalk
We are now standing in one of the most popular areas of campus. The 80-acre freshwater lake within North Lake Village helps bring the Floridian student experience to life. The Waterfront activities are all free of charge for students, and one of the best ways to make the most of your time at FGCU.
Our Outdoor Pursuits office plans a number of adventure trips for students each year too so you're not restrained to just campus activities - our trips have included rock climbing, skydiving, white water rafting, sea kayaking, and much more!
Dining
Being an FGCU Eagle has some delicious perks. The SoVi Dining Hall serves all-you-care-to-eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night bites every day. The Boardwalk restaurant and brewhouse is the newest addition to Campus Dining, bringing fun food and activities! Our Cohen Center Food Court offers popular campus-dining including Chick-fil-a, Papa John's, and Jamba Juice.
Need a perk up? There is a Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts on campus too! We also make sure to have options like Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten Free and more. All college students have different eating habits, and there are meal options to fit every appetite.
Freshman Housing
Imagine your freshman year of college. You are living near a pool like this one, in some of the nicest college housing in the country, with your own bedroom. We are now in South Village, or SoVi, as we like to call it, our on-campus housing complex for freshman and home to the First Year Residential Experience!
When you choose a double or triple suite, you and your suitemates get their own room and share a split-style bathroom. SoVi has outstanding amenities, including a movie theatre, game room, kitchens, and a recreation field toward the back of the complex.
Upperclassman Housing
North Lake Village is one of three housing communities at FGCU and provides students with an independent, apartment-style living environment. Again, students will have their own room in our four-person furnished apartments. Apartments include a full kitchen, living room, and 2 bathrooms. Many of the rooms have incredible views of the water and boardwalk.
Behind us you will see our newest restaurant on campus, The Boardwalk restaurant and brewhouse, which is an amazing place to grab a meal, sit on the patio, or study with friends.
Athletics
At FGCU, we have outstanding school spirit and love to rally around our sports teams. Our D1 Eagles have tallied numerous Regular Season titles and Conference Tournament Championships. Notable Eagles have gone on to successful careers in the pros and Olympic games. We also have been recently ranked in the top 20 best winning percentages amongst the 350+ NCAA D1 institutions.
Academic performance for our student-athletes is an additional source of Eagles pride, maintaining excellent GPAs, graduation rates and earning Academic All-American awards. Athletics takes pride in bringing together the FGCU community in a positive and fun way. Go Eagles!
Recreation & Wellness Center
University Recreation provides state-of-the-art facilities, innovative programs, a gateway to lifelong well-being, and an avenue for student success. Within these spaces, our community lives an active life, grows personally, develops professionally, and has fun.
All are welcome and encouraged to participate regardless of skill level, knowledge, ability, identity, or background. Our intent is to provide access to our programs and services which contribute to your overall health and well-being.
Student Union
The Cohen Student Union offers students a place for dining, socializing, and relaxing, as well as gathering space for Student Organizations. Don't forget to pick up some FGCU swag from the Bookstore before you leave! FGCU is committed to student success.
The Student Services Plaza is a vibrant hub for all of your student needs, including Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Advising, Career Development, and more.
College of Arts & Sciences
The College of Arts and Sciences is where you will find majors covering everything from the liberal arts and humanities to the natural sciences and justice studies! Seidler Hall is where many of the interactive and subject-specific labs are on campus. Students are involved in many different research projects as evidenced when you walk through the halls and see their research posters on display.
The College provides comprehensive training in critical thinking, information literacy, and communication skills for students seeking careers in a broad range of fields.
College of Education
Merwin Hall is where you will find students working on lesson plans for their internships and teaching experiences. Those studying education will start observing classrooms their very first year. This immersion helps our students to identify and confirm the grade level they want to pursue. Our impressive Education program has a 100% graduate employment rate for Pre-K to grade 12 teachers.
Every year our College of Education also hosts a variety of visits to campus by local elementary school students - including the Annual Literacy Festival where students from all over Southwest Florida visit campus and participate in literary activities and read-alongs by published authors.
School of Entrepreneurship
Do you have a creative spirit and want to excel in business or even create your own business someday? FGCU has been named the best public school in Florida for entrepreneurship studies. The Daveler and Kauanui School of Entrepreneurship boasts the highly successful Runway Program where students receive regular mentoring from startup coaches.
After they develop their business plans and solutions, students have the opportunity to pitch the idea for seed funding to launch their business! Prefer to complete projects instead of tests? Our entrepreneurship majors work on a project-based curriculum where they develop new business ideas and build their resumes while doing so.
Library
Not only is the Bradshaw Library a great place to research and study, but it's a great place to take advantage of the many resources available for academic assistance! The Center for Academic Achievement and Writing Lab are both conveniently located in the Library so students can easily stop in when they need help.
The CAA offers Student Success Workshops, Academic Coaching, Tutoring, and Supplemental Instruction for many courses. And, of course, for those marathon study sessions, Starbucks is right here providing you with the fuel you need to keep going!
Campus Beauty
