The SiHM Mentor Program is all about connections. We want to connect you with our seasoned pre-medicine and pre-healthcare students that are currently going through the application, interview, and decision process of their professional programs.

The Students in Health & Medicine (SiHM) Mentor Program connect undergraduate students with similar interests, career goals, and academic motivations to build holistic university experiences as competitive pre-professional healthcare applicants. Through a professional mentoring relationship, students will engage in discussions about healthcare career options, research opportunities, application and interview workshops, and professional networking opportunities within the healthcare field.
What is the timeline for the SiHM Mentor Program?

- January 2019: Build Student Development Team for the SiHM Mentor Program.
- February 2019: Student Development Team begins regular planning meetings.
- March 2019: Applications and Information Sessions for SiHM Mentors and Mentees.
- April 2019: SiHM Mentors selected and undergo HR processing.
- May-July 2019: Plan and prepare for SiHM Mentoring Program launch in August 2019.
- August 2019: SiHM Mentors undergo training and orientation. SiHM Mentor Program launches and hosts kickoff event.
How can I be a mentor or mentee for the SiHM Mentor Program?

The SiHM Mentor Program will pilot in Fall 2019. We are seeking mentors and mentees for this program and should begin the application process in late Spring 2019. For additional information, please contact our Mentoring Programs Coordinator, Rachel Walter.

Kerry Lee, Ph.D. is the Director of Professional Programs and an Assistant Professor of Human Biology in the Biological Sciences Department. Dr. Lee serves as an advisor and mentor to students interested in pursuing admission in a health or medicine related professional graduate program.
