Honors Fellows are full-time, in-unit FGCU faculty members who teach the equivalent of six credits for the Honors College per academic year as part of their assigned annual teaching duties.

FGCU Faculty can earn compensation through Honors College activities such as: Supervising Honors Contracts, Teaching Honors Embedded Courses, Honors Thesis Supervision, Honors Directed Independent Research and Extended Field-Based Activities.

Honors Contracts provide students the opportunity to work closely with a faculty mentor on an independent project in a course he or she is enrolled in. Students develop special skills and gain in-depth knowledge related to the course.

Honors students within a course open to all students can gain Honors credit by working on a group project, decided by the faculty, with their fellow Honors classmates. An Embedded Course allows faculty to expand their teaching approach while Honors students expand their leadership, teamwork, and scholarly skills.
