Dr. Md Baharul Islam is currently an accomplished Associate Professor specializing in Computing and Software Engineering. His academic trajectory is characterized by notable accomplishments and a wealth of experience spanning over 15 years. Dr. Islam has excelled in both teaching and groundbreaking research, with a specific emphasis on image processing and computer vision. His ongoing research pursuits encompass 3D stereoscopic media processing, computer vision, and the application of augmented and virtual reality in vision rehabilitation through human-centered computing.

Dr. Islam's contributions to the field have received widespread recognition, underscoring his impact on the academic and research communities. He has been the recipient of four best paper awards from esteemed international conferences, workshops, and symposiums. Notably, in 2018, he was honored with the prestigious IEEE SPS Research Excellence Award. Furthermore, Dr. Islam's scholarly influence is reflected in his extensive body of work, with authorship or co-authorship of over 80 peer-reviewed research papers. His contributions extend to patents, journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters, reflecting his dedication to advancing knowledge in the field. His commitment to research is further underscored by the TUBITAK 2232 Outstanding Young Researchers Grant, which supports funding for seven postgraduate students across various levels including postdoctoral, Ph.D., and Master's studies.
