Dr. Alberto A. Condori is a (Full) Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). In his career, he has been recognized for excellence in teaching and mentoring and has been awarded external grants to support his research efforts while striving to make positive impacts on the University and community.

Dr. Condori is dedicated to academic excellence. He teaches courses at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum, and in each, he focuses on the development of both problem-solving and critical-thinking skills through data-driven learning and teamwork-based activities. Most recently, he earned the 2023-2024 Senior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award at FGCU for his efforts to support innovative and student-centered teaching, and for cultivating habits of lifelong learning through internship-like experiences for students through partnerships with industry and academia.

Dr. Condori is passionate about a wide range of interdisciplinary research topics. His mathematical interests originated in Mathematical Analysis, but they have now expanded to Data Science, Mathematical Epidemiology, Linear Algebra, and Graph Theory. For instance, he has recently co-authored the volume Recent Progress in Function Theory and Operator Theory in 2024 under the Contemporary Mathematics Series of the American Mathematical Society; he has secured a second grant to conduct a data-driven study West-Nile virus in Lee County for 2024 and 2025; and he is currently studying spectral graph theory for clustering in a data-science project related to human trafficking in Florida.

Dr. Condori strives to make an impact on the University and community by engaging in a wide range of service activities. For the mathematical community, he co-organizes conferences and regularly referees articles for research journals and publishes reviews for the American Mathematical Society. For the student body, he mentors students in research regularly, in both mathematics and in interdisciplinary topics, and facilitates their participation in conferences at the local and national level. For the University, he mentors junior faculty to ensure their professional success and retention. As recognition to his efforts, he received the 2023-2024 Faculty Excellence in Mentoring Award. Finally, at the department level, in addition to serving as a Graduate Program Coordinator for six years, he has chaired search and textbook committees, co-authored calculus competition materials, and regularly participates in curriculum development and assessment.
