The Reading Endorsement Certificate is built for K-12 teachers seeking added education in reading in order to make a greater impact on students and achieve career goals.
The Reading Endorsement Certificate is a Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) approved program, in which educators who hold a currently valid Florida Temporary or Professional Certificate can earn a Reading Endorsement. Educators who are interested in hosting interns must hold a Reading Endorsement.
Within the FGCU COE online courses, you will develop your ability to assess literary performance in K-12 classrooms, explore differentiated instruction and strategies proven to be effective with struggling readers, and understand how to present reading to your students as a process of constructing meaning.
You will engage in a series of specialized courses that emphasize informal literacy assessments in reading; teach you how to utilize approaches, materials and procedures for integrating reading and writing into content areas; and much more. In addition to our vigorous core and focused curriculum, you will participate in one reading practicum that applies your cumulative development.
