23rd Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition
Wasmer Art Gallery

Students working in sculpture, drawing, digital media, printmaking, painting and ceramics
submit their finest works for this annual juried exhibition. Up to 70 works of art,
demonstrating students’ accomplishments and experiments, will be featured. The jurors
for the exhibition are area arts professionals.

2021 Guidelines for Juried Student Art Exhibition entries

All entries must have been created during the time you have been enrolled at FGCU.
All entries must be exhibition ready; i.e., ready to hang or place on pedestals. You may submit up to 6 pieces of work.
Paintings, works in frames, etc., all must have d-rings or be wired. If you have a particularly heavy piece, you are advised to use d-rings.
All unframed works on paper will be hung using clips and plexiglass, which the gallery will supply. However, all work must be matted and backed using white mat board (no foam core will be accepted). All work must be of even dimensions (8" x 10" rather than 8.15" x 7.25"). Framing of works on paper protects your work and is greatly encouraged.
Standard sizes that the gallery can accommodate for covering your works on paper for exhibition that are not framed.
If your work does not fit within these dimensions and is not framed, it will not be accepted for jurying.4" x 6" 12" x 16" 5" x 7" 16" x 20" 8" x 10" 20" x 24" 9" x 12" 24" x 30" 11" x 14" 30" x 40"
FGCU Matting Requirements and Process for Works on Paper (Drawing, Paintings on paper and Printmaking)
• Matt must be white
• Minimum of 2 inch border (they may be larger than 2 inches)
• Outside dimensions need to be EVEN INCHES…i.e., 8 x 10, 24 x 30 (see above standards)
-- 10 ½ x 14 1/8 (no good, fractions, not even)All work will have identification written on the back or bottom of the piece, AND printing on a piece of paper and affixed in such a way that it will not fall off at any time. The information must be printed from a word processing document. Below is the format to follow:

Title of Work
Year work was completed
Medium
Price of work if for sale (Mark NFS if it is Not For Sale)
Submission Number (found on the NCR sheet, top right corner - this same number is to be repeated on each piece you submit.)
Works on paper must be measured and size written on submission form and identification on your piece.
WHAT ABOUT GRAPHIC DESIGN AND/OR DIGITAL MEDIA SUBMISSIONS?
• Graphic Design - may be submitted mounted on foam core. These works will not be covered by plexiglas, but will be hung using Command Strips.
• Digital Media - works can be submitted on your own device or a player or a usb. If submitting a USB, it is very strongly advised that you come in and test the usb with us on our device, to ensure it will work.
GENERAL RULES
Think: Exhibition Ready...can the gallery install the work without having to figure out how it will be displayed/hung?
• Works submitted that do not adhere to the directions for your medium will not be included in the jurying process.
• Please bring your submissions in all at the same time, with your paperwork completed.

JURYING BEGINS AT 5:00pm Tuesday, March 9. We cannot accept late submissions.
THERE IS A CONTRACT FORM ASSOCIATED WITH SUBMITTING YOUR WORK. IT CAN BE PICKED UP IN THE GALLERY OFFICE. WORK IS NEITHER ACCEPTED OR RETURNED WITHOUT YOUR COPY OF THIS FORM.

Works accepted into the juried exhibition will be on view March 19 - April 1, 2021
Pick up of exhibited work is Friday, April 2 from 10:00am to 4:00pm and Monday, April 5 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Any work not picked up on these days will be discarded unless prior arrangements have been made.

WORKS SOLD DURING THE EXHIBITION
Artists exhibiting work are responsible for any works sold during the exhibition. The FGCU Art Gallery will facilitate communication between potential buyers and the artist. The arrangement for payment to the artist and delivery to the buyer is the sole responsibility of the artist. The FGCU Art Gallery takes no fee in the sale of work and takes no responsibility for the exchange between buyer and the artist. All works must stay in the exhibition regardless of a sale. Artists may release the work to a buyer no sooner than April 2, 2021.
