Serve as a leader in your local alumni or university network, helping to organize
events, engage fellow alumni, and strengthen the FGCU community in your area.
Join a board or advisory council to provide leadership, guidance, and strategic direction
for FGCU programs, initiatives, or alumni engagement efforts.
Share your expertise and professional experiences with students by speaking in a classroom
or serving on a panel discussion to inspire and educate the next generation of Eagles.
Alumni have a unique voice to tell lawmakers how Florida Gulf Coast University has
impacted their education, career, and life. Alumni have helped send thousands of messages
to lawmakers at the Florida State Capitol. Your voice can make a difference for FGCU.
The Alumni Advocacy Commitee serves FGCU and alumni through:
Alumni Engagement: Foster a strong network among alumni to encourage involvement in advocacy efforts,
such as sharing personal success stories that highlight the importance of their education.
Community Outreach: Engage with local communities to promote the benefits of public higher education,
hosting events or workshops to raise awareness.
Attend Events: Organize and attend meetings and events with local, state, and federal legislators
to discuss priorities and advocate for policies that benefit public higher education.
Guide and mentor students as they participate in FGCU Day at the Capitol, helping
them connect with legislators, gain insight into public policy, and represent the
university’s interests.
Encourage support for FGCU by promoting the annual Day of Giving, spreading the word
on social media, and rallying fellow Eagles to contribute to impactful university
initiatives.
Bring the FGCU community together by organizing a tailgate or watch party for an Eagles
game, creating an exciting atmosphere for alumni, students, and fans to connect.
Participate in FGCU’s day of service by volunteering for community projects, making
a positive impact alongside fellow Eagles in local initiatives that support those
in need.
Help guide and support an FGCU student by sharing career advice, networking opportunities,
and professional insights to assist in their personal and career development.
Being a mentor for FGCU Day at the Capitol has been an incredibly rewarding experience.
Guiding students as they engage with state leaders and advocate for important issues
has been both inspiring and fulfilling. It’s an honor to help shape the next generation
of leaders and represent the FGCU community.”
