Office of Public Policy Events

FGCU's Office of Public Policy Events was established in response to Florida's HB 931. The bill mandates state universities to "organize, publicize, and stage debates or group forums at the state university" (HB 931 [a] 1). As such, OPPE fosters civil discourse on contemporary public policy issues of relevance to our faculty, staff, students, and community members. As stated in our FGCU Guiding Principles, we welcome the sharing of diverse viewpoints in an atmosphere of civility and mutual respect to produce a more sustainable society.
