Renaissance Academy Punta Gorda Wins Charlotte Sun 2016 Readers' Choice Award

The Renaissance Academy in Punta Gorda was chosen "Best in Charlotte County" in the category of Colleges/Universities by readers of the Charlotte Sun Newspaper. The awards ceremony and banquet was held on Wednesday, October 12th, 2016 at the Charlotte Harbor Events and Conference Center in Punta Gorda.

Renaissance Academy Highlights:
A Retrospective on the Life of Harry Truman

The Renaissance Academy in Punta Gorda presented a look at Truman's impact on some of history's great events like the firing of McArthur; the a-bomb; NATO and the CIA; relations with Israel; and Armed Services integration.

Jack Rabito, nationally acclaimed researcher, actor, lecturer and film consultant performed an in-character appearance of Harry Truman himself (from the one man show: “Give ‘em Hell, Harry”) as he reminisced about his life, family, and the politics of this watershed time of the century.

FGCU Continuing Ed Charlotte County Honored with Special Recognition Award from The Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce

Thanks to the hard work of Nancy Staub, Program Assistant overseeing the Office of Continuing Education at the Herald Court Centre in Punta Gorda, and her valuable team, we earned the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce's, "Partners in Action 2014-15" Special Recognition Award, at the Annual Awards Dinner — The Chamber's NIGHT OF THE YEAR — hosted at the Isles Yacht Club in Punta Gorda. On the third Thursday of every month (5:00-8:00 pm), the Punta Gorda Downtown Merchants Association presents Alive After Five -- an evening of music, art and tastings. The Renaissance Academy supports the arts in Punta Gorda by displaying a local artists' work all month and hosting a reception during Alive After Five.

Herald Court Theatre Kids is a multi-year theatre/dance education program for children. This program is offered through FGCU's Renaissance Academy of Charlotte County and in association with The Performing Arts Development Cooperative. The curriculum includes experiential, interactive activities such as script-writing, acting, designing, directing, researching, connecting, analyzing, understanding, and performing.
