Students with 30 credit hours earned (rising sophmores) can take University Colloquium, though it is usually taken by juniors and seniors.

Yes, University Colloquium is a writing-intensive course.  Rather than exams and quizzes, writing is the means faculty members use to assess student progress.

University Colloquium is a service-learning course.  Each Colloquium faculty member organizes service-learning differently, so the format of those hours may vary.

You will get to experience natural and built environments on class field experiences.  Some faculty members take students on wet walks, getting into cypress domes and marshes, but not all do.

FGCU has included sustainability in its mission and vision since it opened in 1997.  One way to address that mission was to create University Colloquium, an interdisciplinary course that connects faculty and students from every discipline to explore sustainability issues at the intersection of equity, ecology, and economy.  25 years later, thousands of FGCU students have considered the impact they have on the planet.
